A workshop inspired by Brazilian rhythms and dance traditions.
In collaboration with Celio Carvalho (musician), Zezé Kolstad (dancer) together with the participants will create a dance parade with infectious rhythms and music.
Celio Carvalho grew up in Brazil and has been active as a musician, educator and producer in Norway for over 30 years. During this time he has, among other things, taught samba, produced a Brazilian festival, started and run a cultural project between Brazil and Norway. He has also started and run a music school and cultural project in Brazil.
Zezé Kolstad has her dance education from London Studio Center and a master's degree in choreography from KHiO. She has worked as a dance artist in the non-institutional field in Norway and England and set up her own productions for adults and children with Didá Productions. She has been a house choreographer for the National Company in Mozambique, Companhia National de Canto e Dança and was involved in establishing Fargespill in Oslo where she was artistically responsible. Zezé is a freelancer and takes assignments as a performing and creative dance artist.
The workshop runs over three days and the participants are divided into two groups. One group dances with Zezé and the other has a samba orchestra workshop with Celio. Third day everyone practices. On Saturday, the participants open the Global Gathering Festival with a Brazilian parade through the streets of Jessheim.
The workshop is open to all young people from 13 years and adults, regardless of prior knowledge.
Both workshops take place at Jessheim Videregående Skole's premises for dance, drama and music.
Wednesday 25, Thursday 26 and Friday 27 August at 18 - 21.
Saturday 28 August at 10.15 - 10.55 Parade in the streets. Time for attendance is agreed with instructors.
No prior knowledge required.
Participants in the dance workshop are asked to bring clothes that it is possible to dance in and sneakers.
